BiFest Wales 2019
Saturday 11th May 2019
The Theatre, 1st Floor, Swansea YMCA, 1 The Kingsway, Swansea
12 noon until 6pm – daytime workshop, social, craft, and information space.

Entry: £2
Pay on the door (at the entrance to the Theatre on the first floor) only, no advance tickets
Under 16s FREE entry. Must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Evening event – doors: 7:30pm, first live act 7:45pm, ends 11:45pm. Entry: £4 (Under 16s free. Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult) – more information on the evening event is here.

Day and evening entry: £5 if paid together.

Main room (the Theatre) – all day
Registration – starts at 12 noon in the entrance to the main room. Please note you need to register and pay the £2 entry fee (£5 day and evening together), or register for free entry for under 16s, to receive a badge and be allowed into workshops or the main room.
Craft space – Build your own ideal bisexual, colouring books and craft materials, get together and knit or bring your own craft ideas.
Bisexual information zone – If it’s bi related in the UK and we can get our hands on it then find out about it here.
Community information zone – Information from equalities groups, LGBT groups, charities, community groups, public services and more. Please note we do not have space for individual organisations to have their own stalls, all information is together on a few tables at the side of the room, except for a few stalls for organisations that support or sponsor the event. Contact us for information about booking a stall and being listed as a support from £50 to £150.
Sponsors and supporter’s stalls- Pride Cymru are our main sponsor for BiFest Wales 2019. Stonewall Cymru are supporting us by having a stall at the event. Please make them feel welcome and pop by their stalls. We really appreciate their support.
Meet and Mingle table – A space to meet and chat to people you’ve never met before as well as some friendly faces. If you sit at this table it means anyone is welcome to join in conversations. It’s a way to meet new people. Please make newcomers feel welcome in all conversations.
Chill out and social space
Refreshments – a selection of hot and cold soft drinks and some cakes, biscuits and snacks are in the room. Please help yourselves. There is a small amount of vegan and gluten free snacks, so please keep these for people with dietary requirements.

Raffle
Raffle tickets are just 20p each or £1 a strip (5 chances to win!) A list of prizes will be on reception. Pay for tickets on reception or someone will be walking around with tickets on sale.
Can’t be with us until the end? No worries, names and email addresses or phone numbers can be written on the back of tickets and we’ll contact you after BiFest Wales if you’ve won.
All money raised helps to make BiFest Wales a success, keep entry prices down and any surplus supports the work of Bi Cymru/Wales, Bi Cardiff and Bi Swansea, which are constituted community groups with charitable aims.

Workshops
There will be a range of workshops in a room next to the theatre and the the 2 rooms at the end of the first floor from 12:30pm until 6pm.
We are grateful to all the volunteers who’ve offered to run workshops. We rely on volunteers to make BiFest Wales a success and to keep entry prices low. If you have an idea for a workshop for  BiFest Wales 2019 or want to have a chat about what you could run in 2019 please email us at:bicymru@yahoo.co.uk or come and find Ele on the day if your idea is for 2020.

There will be 2 streams of workshops running throughout the day:

  • Workshops on bisexual issues and topics, activism, campaigns, and other topics
  • Games, getting to know you, and craft workshops
    Saturday 12th May 2019Live music event with DJs after the daytime event and a break with an alternative, rock, metal and industrial theme

    Entry: £4 on the door only, no advance tickets

    Open to all ages – young people under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the evening. Only the adult should go to the bar, even for soft drinks. Please note some acts have explicit lyrics and are parental advisory.  Please bring ID if you’re over 18 and want to purchase drinks at the bar, even soft drinks.

    Doors 7:30 pm, first act 7:45pm,, finish: 11:30pm. Please arrive in plenty of time before the scheduled time for any performer or band you particularly want to see, as timings and the order of acts are subject to change.

    A bar will be available in The Theatre on the 1st floor of Swansea YMCA. Please bring ID if you look under 25.

    Dance floor and seating throughout the night.

    We’re grateful for their support, as all musicians, bands, acts and DJs are playing for travel expenses only to support the event. Please support them too. Many thanks to our volunteer designer too. If you’re part of an alternative band or are a solo alternative performer (rock/metal/punk/goth/industrial/EBM or similar) then please get in touch. BiFest Wales 2019 has 1 slot available. We’re also looking for performers for BiFest Wales 2020 provisionally on Saturday 9th May 2020 and we’re looking at the possibility of holding fundraising gigs for Bi Cymru, Bi Swansea and Bi Cardiff around Bi Visibility Day (23rd September).     Captain Meatshield is a one-man metal-covers project, with a strong passion for the geeky side of life.

     
    DrakenWerks – Welsh Dark Electro / Industrial act
    A Dark Electro / Industrial act from South Wales in the UK, DrakenWerks have risen to prominence in the last year. The brain child of promoter and DJ Draken, their last album, No Prisoners, went straight to number 2 in the German Alternative Charts and remained the maximum 8 weeks stay in the top 10 and their tracks have been tearing up dance floors and radio set lists since then.
